MERTECH VISION AI is a compact and powerful module designed for automatic recognition of weighed items at self-service checkouts (SSCs) or at regular checkouts with an attendant. The device includes a camera and a neural network algorithm operating via the REST API v2 protocol. Connection is via USB, and the system itself does not require constant internet access, making it reliable and easy to use.

The operating principle is intuitive: the customer or cashier places a weighed item on the scale and presses the "Search for item" button. The camera captures the image, after which the system recognizes the product with up to 98% accuracy and offers one or more options to choose from. If the user confirms the desired item, the system remembers the choice and improves accuracy in the future. This approach eliminates the need to manually search for items, reduces the likelihood of errors, and speeds up the checkout process.

Learning is fast: 3-4 repetitions of each product item are enough for the system to confidently recognize it. Initial training of 100 products takes approximately 30 minutes. The resulting knowledge base can be easily copied to other checkouts, but it is recommended to train the system separately for each store, as lighting and background conditions can affect recognition. Both modes achieve high accuracy and speed without the need for expensive IT infrastructure.
