How to build a POS system
All-in-one or separate devices. A touch all-in-one saves counter space and is quick to set up. A separate computer and monitor is easier to upgrade one device at a time.
Touch screen type. Resistive touch responds to gloved hands and suits kitchens and warehouses. Capacitive touch works like a smartphone and is better for retail and restaurants.
Peripherals. The system connects barcode scanners, receipt printers, a cash drawer and scales. Make sure the POS computer has enough USB and COM ports for every device.
