A barcode scanner reads the code on the package and sends the data to the POS or inventory software. Cashiers do not type item numbers by hand: the product goes straight into the receipt and the queue moves faster. How to choose a barcode scanner

Code type. A 1D scanner is enough for basic retail. A 2D imager is needed for QR payments, product marking codes, e-tickets and loyalty cards. Most MERTECH models are 2D.

Connection. Wired scanners use USB or RS-232. Wireless models store scans in memory when the connection drops and send them later, so no data is lost in remote warehouse zones.

Working conditions. Warehouses and production need rugged devices. The range includes industrial scanners and ring scanners for hands-free work.

Software. The scanners work in keyboard emulation mode, so they connect to 1C and most POS systems without extra drivers.
